To the graduating class of 2022

Graduation is an exciting event for our seniors! This year, 67 students (+1 International Exchange Student) crossed the stage to receive their Redwood Valley High School Diplomas. The class of 2022 had a very different High School Experience than other classes. In 10th grade, this group had their worlds changed when March 2020 hit, closing schools across the state, nation, and world. New terms such as distance learning, Schoology, quarantine, COVID-19, and pandemic became a part of our daily conversations. That year ended without prom, sports, and a normal spring.

AM I SAFE?

Am I safe? It is a question we all ask. We want safety for ourselves and our family. With the shootings, social violence, weather disasters, virus concerns, and other random accidents, we may not feel safe. The question pops into our heads. “What if it happens to me?”

4-H Shooting Sports Club represented Redwood County VFW in national competition

Twelve youth from the Redwood/Renville 4-H Shooting Sports Club represented the Redwood County VFW in national competition. They competed against other youth from Ohio and California in the Civilian Marksmanship Program Aces Postal event. The Aces Postal is designed to provide competitive opportunities for all athletes. Targets are shot locally and mailed to CMP for computer scoring.

I ate Guinea pig

I know the title of this has caught you off guard but hang with me, I'm going to tell you about the adventure that I had in Ecuador. To start this story off I need to tell you about the amazing program called the Minnesota Agriculture and Rural Leadership (MARL) Program. The intensive 2-year program, that brings together people from all around the state of Minnesota with a common passion for agriculture and rural living. The other members of my cohort consisted of farmers, local government, universities, private sector, and public sector. You become very close with the members of your cohort as you complete in-state seminars, a national seminar in DC and a study abroad seminar which took us to Ecuador.

Cardinal duo headed on to State

The Redwood Valley duo of Drew Lundeen and Andrew Muetzel are headed to State following a second place finish at the Section 3A Doubles Tournament which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon at the RVHS Tennis Courts.

Film and romanticizing the mundane

I for one am heavily influenced by film. Lately, I have been gravitating towards film from around the early 90s. I think there is something to be said about films from previous decades. Specifically, the romance/rom-com genre. For me, it's everything from the writing, the set design, costume design, and the artistic decisions that were made.
