To the editor: I have a deep level of admiration for both the Gazette and Ava. Rural America has become an unwelcoming place, unwelcoming of any opinion not backed up by an outdated political flag, unwelcoming to change.

Hwy 19 Redwood Falls bridge reopened Tuesday, July 5
The Highway 19 bridge in Redwood Falls reopened Tuesday, July 5. It had been closed to allow concrete to cure. Allowing the bridge to cure without vibrations from traffic prevents cracking of the new concrete, adding years to the bridge’s lifespan.
Kuster announces House seat candidacy
Tom Kuster, a retired college teacher, announced he is a Democratic Farmer Labor candidate for Minnesota House. He seeks to represent the people of District 15B, consisting of Redwood, Brown, and the northwest corner of Blue Earth counties.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources welcomes comments through 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, on a draft of Minnesota’s updated wolf management plan that incorporates the diverse views of Minnesotans and will guide the state’s approach to wolf conservation once finalized.

John Baumstark, 105, of Morton passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, at River Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation was held one hour prior to service, from 10 until 11 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Burial followed at St. John’s Catholic Calvary Cemetery in Morton.
Marie Stelter
Marie Stelter, 93, of Belview, formerly of Echo, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Parkview Nursing Home. Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Interment will be at the Vesta Cemetery. A livestream of the service will be available at the St. John’s Lutheran Church webpage and a recording of the service will be available at www. sunsetfuneralassociation.com. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Great Plains Lutheran High School in Watertown, S.D. or the Christian education school of your choice.

Shirley Fay Gladitsch, 89, of Vesta passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at her home. Memorial Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Interment was in the Vesta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
