School board approves updated LTFM plan

Ruffed grouse counts unexpectedly up this year

Minnesota’s ruffed grouse spring population counts are up from last year, which was not expected during the current declining phase of the 10-year cycle — a pattern recorded for 72 years. “While ruffed grouse drumming counts are up, they are not a reliable way to predict the fall hunting season,” said Charlotte Roy, grouse project leader with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Jaxx fall to Kilowatts in playoff action

Submitted article/ Staff ReportOn Wednesday, July 27th, the Wabasso Jaxx traveled to Granite Falls to take on the Kilowatts in Cornbelt League playoff action. It was a one-anddone scenario for Wabasso as a win would propel them to the region playoffs, while a loss would abruptly end their season.

Concern about Summit Carbon Solution’s proposed CO2 pipeline and shady tactics brings landowners together

CURE Concern over a proposed CO2 pipeline in southwest Minnesota and the conduct of pipeline company, Summit Carbon Solutions, spurred nearly 60 landowners and community members from Redwood and Cottonwood Counties to meet on the evening of Friday, July 15. In Minnesota, sections of Summit’s proposed high pressure CO2 pipeline network will cut through Chippewa, Cottonwood, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Martin, Redwood, Renville, and Yellow Medicine Counties and a northern leg crosses Otter Tail and Wilkin Counties.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wabasso Senior Dining is only offering home delivery of meals, until further notice. Home delivery is available to those residing in Wabasso, Wanda, Lucan, Seaforth, Vesta, Delhi, Lamberton, Redwood Falls, Clements, Morton, Fairfax, Franklin, Gibbon, and Winthrop. To order a meal, or for more information, call Diane at 507-829-2385. You are asked to call one day prior by noon to order a meal. The cost is $4 a meal for those ages 60 and over; $2 on Thursdays for Wabasso residents. Menus are subject to change.
