It was a great weekend for the Redwood Valley girls volleyball team as they went 5-0 on Saturday to capture the title at the Maple River Tournament. The Cardinals (10-7) dominated the event, winning by scores of 2-0 against Blooming Prairie, Martin Co.

Minnesota communities, schools and their partners are invited to apply for funding on local projects that enhance transportation goals, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The $12.5 million in federal funding is available through the Transportation Alternatives program in Greater Minnesota (each region has a sub-targeted fund).
“Gerry Patton’s passing, and Ted Suss’s move out of the county have been very sad and significant losses to Redwood County’s DFL unit,” said Karen Malmberg, Redwood County DFL Chair. “I signed on to be Gerry’s Vice Chair in 2019 to help him with the technology side of things. Then COVID slowed us down to a crawl. Now losing Gerry and Ted has brought us to a full stop. So it’s time to rebuild from the ground up.”

Rallying for 14 uanswered fourth quarter points the Cedar Mountain Cougars edged RRC 22-13 Friday night in nine-man football action. The Cougars (5-1) trailed 13-8 heading into the fourth quarter but would score twice in the final twelve minutes including the game-winning six-yard touchdown run from Christian Belcher with three minutes to play in the game.
Wabasso imroved to 5-2 overall in Tomahawk Conference play with a 3-1 win over BL/Hector-Stewart in a battle held Thursday in Buffalo Lake. The Rabbits (14-7) split the first two sets with the Mustangs, winning 25-19 and falling 25-12. They would close out the match however with two straight set wins, 25-13, 25-20, to close out the match.
Racing out to a 21-0 halftime lead the stateranked JCC Huskies rolled to a 35-0 win over the visiting Redwood Valley Cardinals Saturday afternoon in Jackson. The Cardinals were without starting quarterback Cam Enright who was nursing a thigh injury and the Huskie (5-0) were able to dominate in the trenches racking up 300 rushing yards (420 total yards).
It was a big weekend for Cedar Mountain's Nadia Meyers as she recorded her 1,000th career dig at the Maple River Tournament. Meyers continues to rack up the accolades as she also went over 1,000 career set assists a season ago.
