ASK A TROOPER

Sgt. Troy Christianson of the Minnesota State Patrol Question: I'm seeing more and more vehicles in Minnesota with dark tinted windows. I thought there was a law prohibiting dark tinted windows on both the driver and passenger windows but back windows can be dark. Unless the laws changed and I didn't know. Thank you Answer: In Minnesota, you can have your windows tinted to a light transmittance of 50 percent, but not less. Light transmittance is the amount of light that is required to pass through both the window and the tint film. Before any tint material is applied to your windows, a vehicle comes from the factory with tint already inside the glass material. No window comes from the factory at 100 percent light transmittance. My experience has been that most vehicles are already at 75 percent before any modifications.

Julie Rath takes on new role as Blood Program Leader

After five years of service, Heather Smith turned over her Blood Program Leader responsibilities to Julie Rath who will be the new Program leader as the liaison between the Red Cross team and our community. This is a new role for Rath and she is looking forward to following in Smith's steps and fulfilling the responsibilities of working with our community, residents, businesses, to continue to have a highly successful blood drive going forward. Having worked in our community since June of 2001, and will be fully retired from her position at the RADC this coming December, she feels this is a good way to show her support and appreciation for her years of serving the community now in a new way.

Letter to the Editor

As I travel across the county, I hear many different concerns. Of course, inflation and crime are at the top of the list, but property taxes are at the top for most of us in Redwood County. As I read through the 900 plus page packet for county commissioners, one can see where the majority of the money is spent.
