Redwood Valley earns eighth victory with 3-2 win over Springfield

Holding on for dear life the Redwood Valley girls volleyball team escaped with a 3-2 win over visiting Springfield Tuesday night in a non-conference girls volleyball match-up.
The Cardinals (8-6) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with 25-23, 25-20 wins in the first two games.
The Tigers (13-6) would rally, however, claiming game three     25-22, and then with the momentum shifted, rolled to a 25-13 win in game two to even out the match.
Redwood Valley would dig deep in game five on its home court, holding on for a 15-12 win and the nice non-conference victory.
Maria Bebeau led the Cardinals with 13 kills and 30 digs.
Jaycie Ford had eight kills and 18 digs, and Chaila Amundson added eight kills and three ace blocks.
Tegan Hicks added 30 digs and was 12-of-13 serving.
Courtney Kretsch finished with 11 set assists, seven digs and was 12-of-12 serving, and Marissa Pacheco added a team-high 15 set assists, 10 digs and was 18-of-19 serving.
Marissa Mace chipped in with three kills and three digs, Emma Gaffney added one kill and five digs and Josi Kodet finished with one kill, seven digs and four set assists.
Vishe Rabb led the Tigers with 20 kills, three ace serves and two ace blocks, and Alyssa Streich had 24 digs.
Callie Wersal led the way with 26 set assists, while Natalie Timm pitched in with 18.
The Cardinals are back in action tonight against Pipestone Area in a Big South Conference match-up.
