Running against its strongest field of the season, the Redwood Valley boys cross country team had an impressive 10th place finish Saturday at the St. Olaf Invitational in Northfield.
Running on the State Tournament course, the  Cardinals got season best efforts from five of its seven top boys to finish with 298 team points.
White Bear Lake was the boys champion (out of 26 complete teams) with 61 team points.
Leading the way for the Cards was Alex Amunrud who recorded a personal best time of 17:09 to finish in 30th place.
Ryan Phillips placed 57th with a time of 17:41 and Dillon Thooft knocked 23 seconds off of his season best time to place 68th with a finishing time of 17:51.
Brett Olsen (17:56) set a personal record to finish in 75th, Nick VonMosch was 78th (17:58), Wes Peyerl (18:50) added a season best and Josiah Passe (19:14) established a personal best to place 196th.
Also competing for the Cards were Derek Bebeau (19:23), Colin Fuhr (20:10), Marshal Quast (21:54), Jacob Angermeyer (21:56), Ben Ovre (21:57), Bruce Helsper (22:14), David Helsper (22:19), Gavin Zempel (22:28), Will Buffie (23:33) and Nathaniel Passe (26:24).
The Redwood Valley girls also continued to show growth as they finished in 22nd place led by freshman Mary Fixsen.
Fixsen set a personal record by eight seconds and broke her season best by 53 seconds to finish in 46th with a time of 16:15.
Nicole Bunting knocked 32 seconds off of her personal best to finish in 75th with a time of 16:52.
Tessa Heiling (17:42) established a season best to finish 140th, Stacy Liebl (17:59)?knocked almost a minute off of her season best to finish 159th and Megan Riley (18:53) set a season best to place 239th.
Kendra Goblirsch (19:09), Emily Rigge (20:30), Janessa Read (22:14) and Courtney Siegfried (23:28) all set season best times.
East Ridge won the girls race (out of 25 complete teams) with a team score of 101.
