Anthony “Tony” Groebner

 Anthony “Tony” Groebner, 86, passed away unexpectedly, January 17, 2023, at his home in Lennox, S.D.
 Anthony Albert Groebner was born on April 8, 1936, in Brown County, the son Henry F. and Wilhelmina (Minnie Sellner) Groebner. He grew up and attended school in Milroy, graduating from Milroy High School in 1954. He went on to serve in the Minnesota Army National Guard from 1953 until 1956, then the South Dakota Army National Guard until 1961. He served active duty in the US Army from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1962.
 After leaving home, Tony had lived briefly in Tracy, Canton, S.D. and then settled in Lennox in October of 1959. He was well know in the Lennox area as the owner and operator of Anthony’s Bakery, which he operated for decades, until his retirement.
 Tony was a member of St. Magdalen Catholic Church, the Lennox American Legion, the Lennox Senior Citizens, the Lenkota Country Club and the Lennox Commercial Club. He was a member and past President of the South Dakota Bakers Association. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He enjoyed spending several winters in Arizona. Tony was a kind and gentle person, who was very active in his community.
 Besides his parents, Tony was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Martha, and one brother, Norbert.
 Grateful for having shared his life are his sister, Veronica Groebner, St. Paul; brothers: Joe Groebner, Clements, and Edwin Groebner, Tracy; brother-in-law Francis Overend, Stewartville; and sister-in-law Donna Groebner, Wabasso; as well as many other family and friends.
 Memorial services and burial will occur at a later date.
