Rabbit girls destroy Chargers

Scoring nine runs in the first two innings the Wabasso girls softball team rolled to a 15-0, four-inning win over MVL in recent Tomahawk Conference action.The Rabbits allowed just one hit with Avery Carlson striking out four in two innings and Jenniges allowing just one hit and striking out one in two innings of relief.Carlson was also 2-for-2 with a double, a pair of walks, three RBIs and three runs scored.Rohlik was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and three runs scored, Johnson, Annabelle Struntz and Jenniges all had hits.The Rabbits also recently held off SESM in another conference battle.The score was tied at three after four innings of play but the Rabbits would score five in the third and added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.The Rabbits would win despite six errors (the Knights would have five errors).Carlson went all seven innings, allowing just two earned runs on seven hits, striking out nine and walking just one.She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and three RBIs.Lyla Kittelson went 1-for-2 with a big two-run homerun and Rohlik was 1-for-3.The Rabbits also swept a doubleheader with Sleepy Eye winning by scores of 2-0 and 4-0.In a 2-0 win, Carlson allowed just four hits, striking out eight and walking three in a shutout victory.Rohlik was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.The Rabbits also won 4-0 on a five-hit shutout from Carlson that included five strikeouts.Struntz was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Rohlik, Carlson and Kittelson all had hits.

Eagle linksters hold off Cards by two strokes

The Windom Eagles held off the Redwood Valley boys 177-179 Friday afternoon in Big South Conference golf action held at the Redwood Falls Golf Club.The Cardinal boys played better than their first time out but fell just short despite sophomore Mason Frank claiming medalist honors with his round of 38.Without the services of senior Oliver Smith who was on a college visit to Clemson Univerity, the Cards got scores of 46 from Zach Wilson, 47 from Owen Linsmeier, 48 from Shaun Matthews, a 55 from freshman Dylan Mertens and Lukas Means rounded things out with a 57.The Cardinal girls meanwhile once again played against an incomplete team and would win despite struggling to a 215 total.Senior Mila Jenniges was medalist with her round of 42.Anneliese Hammer added a 56, Lily DeBlieck a 57, Rylin Robish carded a 60, Tierra Marxen a 63 and Kayla Bill a 65.Monday the boys travelled to Marshall to take part in the Marshall Invitational and would finish eighth with their score of 350.Marshall Black (305) rolled to the win over teammates Marshall Orange (336) with Dawson-Boyd and Lakeview tieing for third (344).Frank would lead the way with his round of 82 (44-38) as he would settle down on the back nine with a birdie, three bogeys and the rest pars.Linsmeier had the best round of his career with an 85 (46-39) as he recorded birdies on the second and 18th holes.Wilson finished with an 88 (43-45), Smith was back in the line-up and fired a 95 (51-44), Matthews finished with a 98 (49-49) and Means added a 102 (44-58).
