State of Minnesota officially returns land to Upper Sioux Community after 161 years
On March 15, a crowd gathered in the Upper Sioux Community Multi-Purpose Building for an official ceremony marking the transfer of the Upper Sioux Agency State Park to the Upper Sioux Community (Pezihutazizi Oyate).The discussion began nearly 20 years ago when then tribal secretary Elitta Gouge, had a conversation with tribal chairman Kevin Jensvold.

A Redwood County jury found Emiley Brooke Halvorson, of Redwood Falls, guilty of one count of Fourth Degree Assault of a Peace Officer.
