Means sets school record in rout of Eagles

Redwood Valley junior Lukas Means continues to establish himself as one of the top shooters in the state of Minnesota as he recorded a school record 13 three-pointers in a 104-60 rout of Windom Area in recent Big South Conference action.Means - who finished with 41 points, seven assists and five rebounds - broke the record of 12 he set a year ago and his 13 made three’s also is tied for sixth all-time in MSHSL history.

Means, Berg erupt in win over Tigers

The duo of Lukas Means and Elway Berg combined for 61 points as Redwood Valley went on the road and topped rival Marshall 87-81 in recent Big South West Conference action.Means went off from beyond the arc, knocking down 10 three’s to finish with a game-high 34 points, two assists and one rebound.Berg meanwhile shot 50 percent from the floor (11-of-22) and finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and an assist.After struggling against JCC, the Cards (9-3) shot nearly 45 percent from long range in the win (12-of-27), 53 percent overall and outrebounded the Tigers 34-22.Brandon Lang added nine points and nine boards, Oliver Smith had eight points and three assists and Isaiah Dow added eight points, five rebounds and three assists.Laiten Goodthunder chipped in with one point and two boards, Andrew Peterson had four rebounds and Ethan Louwagie added two rebounds and two assists.The Cards then travelled to Paynesville Area (10-4) and watched as the Dragons knocked down 13 three’s to edge the Cards 80-77.The Cards last two losses are a combined three points but they remain in second place in the Section 3AA standings.Against the Dragons the Cards knocked down 12 three’s but also shot just 38 percent from the floor and continued to hurt themselves at the charity stripe going just 13-for-21.Dow led the way with 29 points, six rebounds and two assists and Means added 20 points (six three’s), three steals and an assist.Berg finished with 18 points and two rebounds, Lang had five points, four steals and an incredible 22 rebounds and Louwagie had three points.Peterson chipped in with two points and two boards.The Cards were back in action Turday night against Windom Area and then have a small break before hosting St.

Tigers hold off Cardinal girls

The Redwood Valley girls basketball team hosted rival Marshall in recent Big South Conference action and would fall 82-61 to the Tigers.The Cardinals had four girls reach double figures led by Kendall Huhnerkoch who finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists.Kenzie Lundeen added 12 points, five rebounds and two assists, Morgan Kodet had a season-high 11 points and eight rebounds and Hailyn Ourada added 10 points and seven boards.Cali Johnson finished with two points and four boards and Brynne Farasyn had seven points, three rebounds and two assists.
