Husband, father, grandfather, Richard Dahlgren, 76, of Bird Island entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bird Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Bird Island City Cemetery.

DONALD “DOC” H. WERNER

Donald “Doc” H. Werner, 85, of Redwood Falls passed away on January 31, 2023, at Valley View Manor nursing home in Lamberton surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023, from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Burial, with military honors, followed in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Wabasso. Visitation was held Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and continued on Friday, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., at the church. Donald Harold Werner, the son of Harold and Elaine Werner, was born February 23, 1937 in Vail Township, Redwood County. He grew up on a farm near Wabasso, attended country school and graduated from Wabasso Public Schools. Following graduation, Doc served his country in the Army National Guard. After his military service he worked various jobs but most notably for Murphy Motor Freight and for the City of Redwood Falls as a Park Ranger in Ramsey Park for 27 years, before retiring in 2010. Doc was always happy-go-lucky and his laughter was contagious. He enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, growing flowers, traveling, demo derbies, fishing, polka dancing, driving his golf cart in Ramsey Park, and getting ice cream treats at Dari King. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his sister, children and grandchildren. Donald is survived by his daughters, Denise (Rick) Siegfried of Redwood Falls and Denine (Chuck) Hellendrung of Fairfax; sons, Darrin Werner and Don Werner, both of Redwood Falls; grandchildren, Eric (Monica) Siegfried, Tyler Siegfried, Courtney (Andrew) Frankenstein, Zach, Kayln, and Elyiana Hellendrung and Skylar Werner; great-grandchildren Case, McKay and Colt Siegfried; and sister, Debra Wertish of Redwood Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Elaine Werner; brother, Gary “Beep” Werner and special friend, JoAnn Opitz. Arrangements were with Nelson-Hillestad Funeral and Crem

JENNIFER ANN RUDENICK

Jennifer Ann Rudenick, 43, of Seaforth passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, surrounded by family at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 9 at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Seaforth. Jennifer Ann Rudenick was born March 14, 1979, to Dean and Ann (Rohlik) Rudenick in Redwood Falls. She was baptized on April 1, 1979, and confirmed in May of 1993 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Seaforth. Jennifer graduated from Wabasso Public Schools and continued her education at the VoTech school in Granite Falls. There she received her accounting associates degree. Jennifer was employed at Walmart for many years and was a faithful member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. You could often find Jennifer tending to her flower beds around her home including her favorite daylilies. She loved feeding the birds and watching them out her window. Jennifer enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandmothers. She loved sewing and baking for her nieces and nephews. Jennifer is survived by her mother Ann of rural Seaforth; brothers: Clint (Sara), Clifford (Cristin), both of Seaforth and Clayton (Sheena) of Willmar; nieces & nephews: Dugan and Rhylee, Holden and Hogan, and Ayla and Nolan; grandmothers: Ila Mae Rohlik and Mary Rudenick; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her father Dean and grandfathers Gerald Rohlik and Russell Rudenick.

Bloom where you are planted

According to Statistics, the average American has 12 different jobs in their lifetime and those jobs lasts only about 4.3 years. I would readily admit that for much of my adult life I was on a trajectory where I would have exceeded 12 jobs. So, this week I made a list of the jobs I’ve had since high school, and the jobs where I’ve been self-employed, and there were exactly 12 different jobs on my list. It turns out, that I am exactly – average.
