Rotary Club donates to 10 area charities as apart of 75 year anniversary

As a part of Redwood Falls Rotary 75 Year Anniversary, the Rotary Club presented $75 donations to 10 area charities. The charities are as follows: Redwood Area Food Shelf Redwood Area Library Foundation Redwood Area Youth Foundation Redwood Area Animal Shelter Redwood County 4-H Redwood Area Education Foundation Ruby’s Pantry Service Enterprises, Inc Share the Spirit Unity We were honored to help these charities and support them in all the good works that they provide to the Redwood Area. Renville County “Stronger Together” starting Jan. 10

In 2023, we will celebrate the silver anniversary of Renville County residents supporting our cancer survivors. The volunteers of the Renville County Walk in the Park know well that life’s difficulties can create havoc. It is for this reason that the Renville County Walk In The Park is announcing January’s four-week cancer survivors empowerment group, “Stronger Together.” said Renville County Walk in Park Executive Director Sara Maher. “A comment from one of our survivors after our first meetings left us with the true importance of gathering together. She related that she knows that whatever questions she has about her journey, she feels she can come to Stronger Together and we will help her out. And that is what it is all about a safe place, to gather, relax and enjoy an elegant homemade meal together.

SMSU hosts Dakota 38+2 Riders

Southwest Minnesota State University was honored to host the Dakota 38+2 Wokiksuye Ride on their stop in Marshall on Dec. 20-21. SMSU was but one stop on the 330-mile journey that began on Dec. 9 in Lower Brule, South Dakota, and ended on Dec. 26 in Mankato. Wokiksuye means to remember.

City Council approves allocation of RFFD ARPA Funds to BWC System

Redwood Falls City Council met Tuesday, Dec. 20 and approved the request for an advertising exchange between KLGR and the Parks and Recreation Department to continue the practice of exchanging memberships and passes for the radio auction in the amount of $3,604 to be auctioned by June 30th, 2023. This will include a January and April radio auction.

Board of Education provides updates and changes to new school plan

The Redwood Area School Board of Education met Monday, Dec. 19 in a regular session. A resolution was passed to call for an election on April 11, 2023. The single question will focus on the need for a new elementary building. The site selected for the new building is the current Reede Gray site. The new school would be built in the southeast corner of the current lot. The Woodale building and lot has also been acquired by the school district. This was necessary to meet Minnesota Department of Education guidelines for acreage space of a new elementary and to also provide adequate space for staging and construction if the question were to pass. The Board of Education has taken all of the feedback from the Aug. 9 vote into consideration.
