Redwood County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday, Nov. 29 and approved the Out of State Travel Expense to Chicago for Denise Kerkhoff, Shannon Ness and Jenna Peterson in the amount of $4,257. This expense is for in-person training sessions that cover important areas of crime victimization.
The regular meeting of the Independent School District No. 2897 Board of Education was called to order by Board Chairman James Boots, on Monday, Nov. 28 in the Redwood Area Schools Board Room. Members present were Darin Prescott, Jim Boots, Matt Tiffany, Derek Woodford, Mark Dressen and Andrew Lueck. Member Clark Grannes was absent. Superintendent Becky Cselovszki and Finance Director Tom Anderson were also in attendance.
By statute, the opening date for Minnesota’s snowmobile trails was Dec. 1 but most of the state’s trails need more snow before they can be groomed for use, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
A furious second half rally by the Cedar Mountain Cougars helped them top Mayer Lutheran 6665 in non-conference boys basketball action. The Cougars trailed 3927 at the half but would flip the script in the second half as they outscored Mayer Lutheran 39-26 in the final 18 minutes to win by a single point.
“On that day, a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom” (Isaiah 11:1). I have to admit, whenever I read or hear this passage from the prophet Isaiah, I think of times when my Christmas trees sprouted buds from the ends of their branches at the end of the season.
