Redwood Area Education Foundation honors five new inductees to Redwood Area Schools Hall of Fame

The Redwood Area Education Foundation honored five new inductees to the Redwood Area Schools’ Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 7. The Hall of Fame is a recognition program designed to honor individuals who have made a significant impact on the Redwood Area Schools, surrounding communities and/or throughout the world. Jonathan Moore (Alumni), Henry and Mary Jo Boots (Community), Michael “Mick” Prescott (Community), Jerry Meschke (Staff/Faculty) and Jeanette Lothert- Cornell (Staff/Faculty) were presented with a plaque in recognition for their service, commitment, support and leadership of education and our community.

Two Little Words

I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home. One of the features of that home was that there was no swearing, or really any kind of rough language. And that upbringing left its mark: To this day, nobody will ever hear me even use such words as “gee” or “gosh” or “heck” or “darn.” However, there was one phrase that, while not swearing, was absolutely never allowed to be used, especially if I was being encouraged by parents who very much thought I was capable of doing something: “I can’t.” I don’t remember anything particularly good happening as a result of my parents hearing me say those words. However, as I have gotten older, and particularly as I have learned more about the message of the Bible and the life of Jesus Christ, I have realized that the essence of the faith in Him that has embraced me can actually best be summed up by those two simple words: “I can’t.”

County board approves Professional Engineering Services Agreement with Bolton and Menk for five lighted intersections

Due to manufacturing delays, a snowplow truck has been ordered in advance for the 2024 fiscal year. March of 2024 is the estimated date that the truck would be operational. The board approved the purchase of a 2024 Model Year 47X Tandem Axle snowplow in 2024 from Truck Center Companies in the amount of $142,244.

City Council waives fees as Celebrate Redwood Falls prepares for October festivities

Redwood Falls City Council met Tuesday, Oct. 4, and waived Celebrate Redwood Falls committees rental fees. Celebrate Redwood Falls is making plans for the Monsters on Main Street Event, as well as the Haunted Hotel, which is scheduled to be open Saturday, Oct. 22, Friday, Oct. 28 through Monday, Oct. 31. This includes closing down 2nd street from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. between Mill and Washington each night, the closing of 2nd street on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 1 p.m.- 11 p.m. for the Monsters on Main Event, waiving the fees for six picnic tables, garbage bins and the walk-through inspection by the building inspector the week prior to opening.

Redwood Rebels put together memorable summer

It was a memorable summer for the Redwood Rebels 12-and-under Softball Team who capped off a great season by playing in the MONSTA Championship held Aug 4-7 in Mounds View. The Rebels qualified for the tournament by winning the Tier 8 State Tournament on July 9-10. The MONSTA Championship was a tournament consisting of 49 teams who qualified during the season. The layout of the tournament consisted of both pool play and bracket play during the four day tournament.
