With election day on Tuesday, Nov. 8, candidates for Redwood Area School District #2897 Board of Education were given the opportunity to provide information to the voters. They were asked why they want to serve on the school board and what top issues the board should be dealing with these next few years.
Outscoring Sibley East 23-0 in the second half the Redwood Valley Cardinals made it two straight wins with a 30-6 win over the Wolverines Friday night in Arlington. The Cardinals (2-5) had won back-to-back games heading into Wednesday night's regular season finale against LCWM.
The Minnesota pheasant hunting season is now open. Hunters should check regulations before they head out into the field. Pheasant hunters ages 16-64 must purchase a small game license and pheasant stamp. Also, all pheasant hunters must wear at least one visible article of clothing above the waist that is blaze orange or pink. The Cedar Mountain Cougars dropped a Tomahawk Conference battle with rival New Ulm Cathedral 3-0 in recent area girls volleyball action. Despite the loss the Cougars still sport a 19-8 overall record and a 6-2 mark in conference play as they near the end of the regular season.
When I was in junior high school I played volleyball and basketball. I joined the teams because my friends were all playing those same sports and I, of course, wanted to do whatever they were doing. By tenth grade, I had become a very talented bench warmer and discovered that I preferred the band, the speech team and community theater productions, even though I remained friends with the athletes and proudly cheered them on from my perch in the balcony with the rest of the pep band.
Weather permitting, the City of Wabasso will begin its annual hydrant flushing between Oct. 19 through Nov.

The cost is $4 a meal for those ages 60 and over; $2 on Thursdays for Wabasso residents. Menus are subject to change.
