Charles “Chuck” Robinson, 66, of Morton passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Olivia Hospital and Clinic in Olivia. Visitation will be held Friday, May 27, 2022, from 4 7 p.m. at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls. Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 10 - 11 a.m. at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with an escort by the Morton Fire Department to the Morton City Cemetery for an 11:30 a.m. graveside service. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at the new Morton Fire Hall in Morton at 12 p.m. following his graveside service at the Morton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials - the family will use the memorials to help purchase equipment for the Morton Fire Department.
A late run in the final two innings helped Redwood Valley escape with a 2-1 win over visiting Sleepy Eye Thursday, May 19 in a non-conference match-up. It was a pitcher's dual for most of the game as the Indians' Jackson Huiras pitched well as did the Cardinal duo of Carson Woodford and Jahger Bill.
Winning three of the four singles matches the Redwood Valley tennis team defeated Montevideo 5-2 in a recent non-conference dual meet. The Cardinals continued to get steady play from their veteran players as Andrew Muetzel, Jacob Zollner and Drew Lundeen all won in straight sets in singles action.
Plating the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh the Wabasso baseball team edged GFW 5-4 in a recent Tomahawk Conference match-up. The Rabbits led 4-0 heading into the top of the sixth when the T-Birds rallied to tie the score at four.
Friday, May 20th marked the 4th overall season for the Wabasso Jaxx amateur baseball program. The team went on the road to take on a fellow Cornbelt League opponent, the Sacred Heart Saints and through quality relief pitching and timely hits, Wabasso was able to earn a come-from-behind 11-6 victory in 10 innings.
The Redwood Area Education Foundation held their 20th Annual Evening of the Stars Thursday, May 12. Redwood Valley High School Class of 2022 will be graduating Sunday, June 5 at 1 p.m.
As of Tuesday, May 24, JF Brennan Company, Inc. reports 120,000 cubic yards of sediment removed from Lake Redwood! This amount is 18% toward the 650,000 cubic yard goal. The Michael B. dredge continues it work near the dam and will begin moving in a southerly direction towards the next island over the next month.

Dona Larkin won both a juried award and the "People's Choice" award for her "Black and White" acrylic painting that is featured in the Gerald Patten Collection. Tatanka Arts hosted an art show that featured local artists at the Redwood Falls Public Library Saturday, May 21. Larkin was one of five to receive a $100 juried award. Ava Lund
