Braxton William Welch, 20 months, of Wabasso passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso and will continue from 9 until 10 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will take place at a later date.

Alois “Al” Brey

Mass of Christian Burial for Alois “Al” Brey, 96, of Wabasso was Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 2 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. A livestream and recording of the service is available at www.lowafc. org. Visitation was one hour prior to the church. Interment with military honors followed at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery.

Ladies Night Out fundraiser hosted by Dollars for Scholars

The Redwood Area Dollars for Scholars, Orrin S. Estebo Chapter is hosting a “Ladies Night Out” fundraiser on Thursday, April 28, from 6-8 p.m. at the Redwood Falls Golf Club. It will be a night of shopping, appetizers, drinks, raffles, door prize drawings and fun. Several area vendors will be there, and will donate a portion of all sales to the Redwood Area Dollars for Scholars. This is the 20th anniversary of the Redwood Area Dollars for Scholars awarding scholarships to Redwood Valley High School students.

Redwood County child succumbed to injuries in vehicle related accident

On Friday, April 15, at approximately 5:56 p.m. the Redwood County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to an accident involving one-year-old Braxton William Welch (pedestrian) and a vehicle near the intersection of County Road 6 and Jade Avenue. The child later succumbed to his injuries. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Jacob Urile Welch. No criminal charges are pending.

Dual County 4-H Dairy Project Bowl Team competed at 4-H Regional Project Bowl

On March 19, Pipestone and Redwood County 4-H’ers participated in the Regional 4-H Project Bowl earning first place in their senior division. The 4-H Regional Project Bowl challenges teams of three to six youth to test their knowledge on a variety of animal science and agriculture topics including dairy, dog, general livestock, horse, lama, poultry, and rabbit.
