Redwood Falls, Minn. —
Sometimes you just want a day of pampering for yourself.
Sometimes a couple wants some togetherness time to relax and feel special.
Welcome to Special Touch Massage and Day Spa, which opened earlier this month in rural Redwood Falls.
The idea began six years ago, when owner Krista Trebesch, a certified massage therapist was collaborating with a chiropractor in another town.
Trebesch moved her massage therapy office into her home in rural Redwood Falls in 2005, but quickly outgrew the space.
“I wanted to add more massage therapists, and as long as I was adding people, I needed to add space,” she said.
“I’ve always dreamed of having a spa, someplace people could come to enjoy and relax.”
The new building next to her home was started in November, but the long winter delayed its official opening until this month.
“August 15 was our official opening date,” Trebesch said.
The new spa includes a hair salon, and a separate room for pedicures and manicures.
A meeting room to one side serves as a waiting room, and can be rented for conferences of parties up to 20 people.
A separate “relaxing room” is perfect for taking breaks between spa treatments, or for lunching.
In addition to the two massage rooms, Trebesch has set aside a spa room where she soon hopes to add the ability to do facials and skin care treatments.
Currently, Trebesch has on staff three massage therapists, including herself, and two hair stylists who are also trained in pedicures and manicures.
