The Wabasso Area Commercial Club is proud to announce it will host the fourth annual Winterfest and torchlight parade. This event will be held in downtown Wabasso this coming Friday (Dec. 7) beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The commercial club’s mission is to develop community relationships, promote local communities and support members. Its goal for this event is to promote commercial club businesses while offering a fun night of events (open houses, parade, Santa, adult and children’s activities and socializing) to the community.

What follows are some of the event highlights:

• Business Open House: Any commercial club member is encouraged to participate in a holiday open house at their place of business Dec. 7 between the hours of 4:30 and 7 p.m.

• Torchlight Parade: Any business, organization or private party is encouraged to enter a holiday-themed unit in the parade. Lighting on units is recommended and music is welcome. Because the parade will occur at night and visibility will be diminished, participants are asked that parade entries refrain from throwing candy or other items to the spectators to prevent children from running into the street.

The parade will begin at 7:15 p.m. Units will line up at the Wabasso High School parking lot, pass in front of the Wabasso Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and on toward Main Street, ending at the community center.

• Socializing with Santa: Santa will be at the Wabasso Public School from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and following the parade Santa will be at the Wabasso Community Center.

All are welcome to gather at the Wabasso Community Center for more fun and festivities after the parade. Children’s activities will be available, including prizes which will be awarded for house decorations, and other activities are being planned.

The Winterfest committee is excited to continue this fun event.

Everyone is invited to visit Wabasso Dec. 7.
