This year Veterans Day is on a Sunday.

What that means is area programs are going to be held on alternate dates, with those programs being held this coming Friday (Nov. 9) or the following Monday (Nov. 12).

A program is being held in Redwood Falls Nov. 12 in the Redwood Valley schools gym starting at 1 p.m. Matthew Borkenhagen is the scheduled speaker. The program will also include musical presentations, as well as readings.

Other area programs include:

• In Wabasso Nov. 9 at 9:30 a.m. in the Wabasso Public School activity center.

• In Milroy Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. in the Milroy Public School gym.

• In Morgan Nov. 12 starting at 9:50 a.m. at Cedar Mountain school in the gym.

• In Lamberton Nov. 12 at 10:15 a.m. at Red Rock Central school in the auditorium.

• In Franklin Nov. 12 at 10:30 a.m. in the Cedar Mountain Elementary School gym.

• In Walnut Grove Nov. 12 starting at 2 p.m. in the Walnut Grove school gym.

Veterans Day is a time to honor those who have served their country and to pause and express thanks to those who sacrificed to ensure the freedoms those who call the United States their home enjoy.

The public is encouraged to attend a Veterans Day program in the area.
