The 25th annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Redwood County committee and teams held a wrap-up meeting Aug. 13.

Fifty-two cancer survivors registered during the evening of Relay For Life, which was held July 13 at Gilfillan.

The silent auctions raised a total of $1,888.

There were about 1,260 luminaries lit.

Taking part in the supper were 288 people.

The total net of the Relay For Life was $58,246. However, more donations were turned in later, so final money totals for the event, some teams and some individuals will be changed from those listed. The last day of the fiscal year is Aug. 31.

There were 12 teams. There is no longer a limit as to how many members can be on a team. Teams ranged from one member to 18 members this year.

Ten teams turned in $1,000 or more.

The top five teams were: Banking On A Cure with 18 members raising $21,136, Farming For A Cure with 11 members raising $9,570, Erasers with eight members raising $6,779, Many Working for A Cure with six members raising $6,618 and Pullin’ Together with five members raising $5,212. There were 86 participants on the teams. 

Of those 86 participants 21 received certificates for raising $1,000 or more.

Jennifer Evans, American Cancer Society manager, said, of all her counties, Redwood County always receives the highest number of the following certificates:

• Receiving All-Star certificates for raising $2,500 or more were Nancy Hanson of Banking on a Cure with $3,962, Jane Moody of Pullin’ Together with $3,352, Lori Eis of Banking On A Cure with $3,051 and Char Burgemeister of Banking On A Cure with $2,848.

• Receiving certificates for raising $l,000 to $2,499 were Kelli Sorenson of Many Working For A Cure raising $2,274, Joanne Robinson of Erasers raising $2,045, Vonnie Roberts of Banking On A Cure raising $1,955, Sheri Madsen of Roping For A Cure raising $1,798, Sandi Swartz of Erasers raising $1,688, Marlys Mathiowetz of Erasers raising $1,610, Christie Rudenick of Farming For A Cure raising $1,529, Rhonda Garrioch of Farming For A Cure raising, $1,488, Virginia Kopischke of Many Working For A Cure raising $1,370, Cheryl Gewerth of Pullin’ Together raising, $1,360, Dustin Burgemeister of Banking On A Cure raising $1,252, Amy Roberts of Banking On A Cure with $1,100, Jolene Lueck of Putting Fore a Cure raising $1,093, Doug Kospischke of Many Working For A Cure raising $1,060, Jim Roberts of Banking On A Cure raising $1,050, Julie Huhnerkoch of Many Working For A Cure raising $1,043, Nancy Baker of Walnut Grove Walkers raising $1,040.

The Relay for Life committee expressed its thanks to everyone who supported and or worked for the 25th Annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Redwood County.

The date and location of next year’s Relay For Life will be determined later.
