Gloria Jane ( Elliott ) Swanson, 84, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away April 28 at her home at Brookdale Memory Care in La Crosse, Wis. Gloria was born January 21, 1934 to Herman and Mildred (Woese) Elliott in rural Redwood Falls. Gloria graduated from Redwood Falls High School. She married Norman Swanson in 1952, and they owned and operated Swanson Studios in Lamberton and Springfield until 1969 when they moved to Winona. She was employed by Camera Art in Lewiston and later at Alf’s Studio in Winona as a photographic artist until her retirement. Gloria loved fashion, flowers, music, dancing, movies, entertaining and travel. She was a culinary expert, a fabulous baker and kept a meticulous house. Her passion for collecting all things butterfly was unrivaled. She adored her many dogs and cats throughout the years and was proud to have been the first woman to become a member of the Winona Elks Lodge. Gloria is survived by one daughter, Debra (Steve) Schams of La Crescent, one granddaughter, Dr. April Hurd (Bill) Farrell and three great-grandchildren, Liam, Wyatt and Stella Farrell, all of La Crescent, cousins Delano ( Barb) Woese of Merrifield, Delores (Woese) Bunting of Redwood Falls and Diane Woese (Dave ) Gilmore of Parker, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years and her parents. Services were entrusted to Fawcett Junker Funeral Home and Crematory, Winona and Fountain City, Wis.
