Muetzel, Josephson crack top 10

The Redwood Valley boys golf team had a nice fourth place showing Tuesday at the St. Peter Invitational.

The Cardinals shot a solid 334 team total to finish behind Martin Co. West (331), JCC (315) and champion St. Peter (314) in the 10-team event.

Matthew Muetzel led the way for the Cards with an eighth place finish and Zach Josephson would finish ninth. Muetzel shot nine-hole rounds of 42-38 and Josephson came back from a front-nine 44 to shoot 37 on the back.

Connor Josepshon was right behind with an 83 (39-44) and Damico Arredondo had his best outing of the season firing a 90 (46-44). Folke Bjorkman chipped in with a 93 (49-44) and Holden Runck added a 95 (46-49).

St. Peter’s Carter Doose earned medalist honors with a two-under par round of 70.

The Cardinal boys also recently took on Pipestone Area in a Big South Conference dual and would lost a tough 168-176 decision.

Connor Josephson led the way with a 42, Muetzel added a 43 and Zach Josephson carded a 44. Arredondo would finish with a 47, Bjorkman added a 50 and Spencer Gilk shot a 52.

Runck led the JV with a 44 and Jordan Gibbs fired a round of 50.
