Control issues plague RRC/WWG as Redwood Valley rolls to victory

Jumping out to an early 8-2 lead the Redwood Valley girls softball team picked up its first win of the season with a 17-7, six-inning win over visiting RRC/WWG Monday afternoon at the RVHS softball complex.

The Cardinals (1-6) finished with seven hits but were aided by an eye-opening 21 walks.

Rose Frank was 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored, Briah Sands went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Jasmyne Fisher was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Amy Martius went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI, Paige Serbus was 1-for-3 with two RBI and Jenna Pendleton went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Nicole Stoen went the distance to pick up the victory, allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits, striking out eight and walking four.
