Jesus is risen.

Those words sum up what Holy Week is all about, as Christians around the world celebrate the final week of Jesus ministry before his arrest, crucifixion, burial and resurrection.

Starting today (March 29) and through Sunday, April 1 congregations across the area will be celebrating with worship services and other activities as a way to commemorate what is, in their minds, the most important event in human history.

What follows is a schedule of area churches and the events they have scheduled:

• St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls will host Maundy Thursday services at 4 and 6:30 p.m. with Good Friday worship at 12:10 and 7 p.m. Easter Sunday services will be held at 7 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with an Easter breakfast at 8 a.m.

• St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls will host a Holy Thursday Mass at 7 p.m., with a Good Friday Mass at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. An Easter vigil will be Saturday at 8 p.m. Easter Mass will be at 10 a.m.

• The Evangelical Free Church of Redwood Falls will host a Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. with a 9:30 a.m. Easter worship service. Breakfast will be served Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m.

• Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., with a Good Friday worship service at 6:30 p.m. An Easter vigil will be held Saturday at 5:30 p.m., with Easter Sunday services at 6, 8 and 10 a.m. Brunch is being held between services from 7-10 a.m.

• First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. with a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Easter services are being held at 7:30 and 10:30 a.m., with an Easter breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

• Living Word Church in Redwood Falls is hosting a Easter celebration service at 10 a.m.

• The Redwood Falls Assembly of God Church is hosting an Easter celebration service Sunday at 10 a.m., with an Easter breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and an Easter egg hunt at 9:30 a.m.

• Redwood Alliance Church in Redwood Falls is hosting an Easter breakfast Sunday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a celebration service at 10:30 a.m.

• Christ’s Victory Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls will host a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m., with a Good Friday service starting at 7 p.m. Easter Sunday worship is at 6 and 9 a.m., with fellowship, an egg hunt and balloon release following the 9 a.m. service.

• Grace Lutheran Church in Belview is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m., with a Good Friday service also at 7 p.m. An Easter vigil is being held Saturday at 6:30 p.m., with an Easter Sunday service at 9:30 a.m.

The Saturday evening Easter vigil is held as a time to transition from darkness to light illustrating Christ’s passage from death to resurrection. The service includes stories of the history of salvation, music and creative presentations. More than 50 members of the congregation have been involved in preparing for the service.

• First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. An Easter breakfast is being served starting at 8:30 a.m., followed by an Easter worship service.

• Cornerstone Church will have a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. with fellowship hour at 9 a.m. followed by a worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday.

• St. John’s Catholic Church in Morton will hold a Good Friday Mass at 5:30 p.m. with Easter Sunday Mass at 8 a.m.

• St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Flora Township is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. Easter Sunday events include a breakfast at 7:30 a.m., with a service at 8:30 a.m.

• St. John Lutheran Church in Vesta is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m.

• Peace Lutheran Church in Echo is hosting a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. 

• Echo Alliance Church in Echo is hosting a Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

• Morgan United Methodist is hosting a Maundy Thursday worship service at 7 p.m.

• St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in rural Franklin is hosting a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. St. Luke’s will also host an Easter brunch Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m.

• Word of Life Lutheran Church in Belview is hosting a Good Friday service at 7 p.m., with an Easter service at 11 a.m.

• Rock Dell Lutheran Church in rural Belview is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m., with an Easter breakfast Sunday at 8:30 a.m. followed by 10 a.m. worship.

• Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Belview is hosting a Good Friday service at 7 p.m., with a 7 a.m. Easter Sunday worship service.

• Bethany Lutheran Church in Wabasso is hosting a Maundy Thursday worship service at 7 p.m., with Easter Sunday worship at 9 a.m.

• Trinity Lutheran Church of Sanborn is hosting a Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

• Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Morgan is hosting a Good Friday service at 7 p.m., with Easter worship service at 9 a.m.

• St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Evan is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m., with an Easter Sunday service at 6:30 a.m.

• Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Milroy is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m., with a 7 a.m. Easter Sunday service and fellowship to follow.

• St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Wabasso is hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m., with a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. 9 a.m.

• Sundown Lutheran Church in rural Springfield is hosting a Good Friday worship service at 3 p.m.

• St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso is hosting a Holy Thursday Mass at 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Good Friday service. It will also host a Holy Saturday service at 8:15 p.m.

• Our Lady of Victory Church in Lucan is hosting a Good Friday service at 12 p.m., with a 9 a.m. Easter Sunday service.

• St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth is hosting a Good Friday Service at 3 p.m., with an 11 a.m. Easter Sunday Mass.

• St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda is hosting an Easter Sunday service at 7 a.m.
