Nelson erupts for career-high 26 points as Redwood Valley tops JCC 88-66

Avenging an earlier season loss the Redwood Valley boys basketball team rolled to a dominating 88-66 win over visiting Jackson County Central Monday night in a Big South Conference showdown.

The Cardinals (10-11) fell earlier this season on the road to the Huskies (11-9) by a score of 74-60. Monday night, however, the Cardinal offense was in full beast mode as they raced out to a commanding 44-28 halftime lead.

The second half was all Cardinals as well, as they tacked on 44 more points (going 7-of-11 from long range) to finish with a 22-point margin of victory.

It was a huge night for Payton Nelson, as he scored a career-high 26 points, going 8-of-10 from three-point range to help the Cards finish 16-of-32 from distance. Cole Woodford finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals, and Mitch Irlbeck added 13 points and six rebounds.
