Garman posts double-double in win over Braves
The Redwood Valley girls basketball team made it two straight victories with a comfortable 54-32 win over visiting Benson Thursday night in a non-conference match-up.
With the Cardinals leading 27-19, a 17-0 run would put the game away, as the Cards would take a 44-19 advantage and roll to an easy win. The victory improves the Cards overall record to 6-15 overall and 4-6 in their past 10 games heading into a home match-up with Luverne Friday.
The Cards showed nice balance led by freshman Haley Garman who had a big night finishing with a game-high 20 points to go along with 14 rebounds and four steals. Rose Frank added a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Nichele Mannz had six points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Amy Martius pitched in with four points, five assists and three rebounds, Sydney Sommers had three points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals, Amanda Johnson added three points and three rebounds and Caitlyn Johnson had three points and four steals. The Cardinals shot 40 percent from the floor (24-of-58).
