Irlbeck nets 34 points in Cardinal win over Tigers

Mitch Irlbeck scored 34 points and grabbed five rebounds to help lead Redwood Valley to a 71-63 win over host Hutchinson Thursday night in a non-conference boys basketball match-up.

The Cardinals took a 41-32 lead into the half and would hold on in the second half to improve to 9-10 overall heading into a Big South match-up with JCC tonight at home. The Cardinals shot 42 percent from the floor (28-of-65) and won despite going just 10-of-20 from the charity stripe.

Cole Woodford added 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Kyle Huhnerkoch chipped in with eight points and two boards, Payton Nelson added six points, Deo Charles had five points and five rebounds, Logan Josephson added three points and six boards and Bronson Smith had two points and three rebounds. In a recent 95-91 loss to BOLD, Irlbeck had 31 points and six boards.
