Mary Miller, 98, of Hutchinson, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. Inter-ment was in the St. Anastasia Catholic Cemetery. Clergy officiating was Pastor Jerry Meidl. Mary Elizabeth Miller was born October 4, 1919, in Birch Cooley Township. She was the daughter of Daniel and Margaret (Slane) Gallery. Mary was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Birch Cooley Township. She received her education in Bird Island and Hutchinson, graduating in Hutchinson. On October 6, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Melville Miller at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Birch Cooley. This marriage was blessed with five children, Kay, Mary Lynne, Daniel, Catherine and John. Mary and Mel resided in Redwood Falls and later moved to Hutchinson. They shared 48 years of marriage until Mel passed away September 16, 1990. Mary and Mel owned and operated the Red and White Food Store in Hutchinson for four years. She retired in 1995. Later they worked at Red Owl Grocery Store. Mary was an active member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson where she was involved in various Church activities. She was active in Council of Catholic Women. Mary enjoyed playing the card game Bridge and attending church activities. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. When Mary needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident at Harmony River Living Center March 9, 2016. She passed away there Friday, December 29, 2017, at the age of 98 years. Mary is survived by her: children, Mary Lynne Cox of Hutchinson, Daniel Miller of Ham Lake, Catherine Kraft and her husband, Joel of Darwin, John Miller and Karey Sumner of Isle; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Margaret Gallery; husband, Melville Miller; infant child; daughter, Kay Peterson; two infant sisters; sister, Genevieve Mertz and her husband, Mel; brothers, Robert Gallery and his wife, Zelda, John Gallery and his wife, Margaret, Edward Gallery and his wife, Olive and Charles Gallery.
