Rose scores 33 points in win over Westbrook/Walnut Grove
The CM/Comfrey girls basketball team ended a two-game skid with a pair of wins over the holidays at the Mt. Lake Area invitational.
The Cougars (5-3) rolled to a 70-46 win over W/WG and topped Mountain Lake 48-41.
In the win over the Chargers, the Cougars took advantage of a 22-9 run at the end of the first half to take control. It was a huge night for Taylor Rose, as she finished with 33 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Erica Bock added 12 points, four rebounds and three steals, and Abby Jemmings had seven points, four assists and three steals. Maddy Billmeier chipped in with five points and five boards, Molly Carnell had four points and nine rebounds, Emma Schouvieller had four points, Kirsten Meyer three and Megan Trebesch two.
In the championship game against Mt. Lake, the Cougars led 20-19 at the break and pulled away in the final five minutes for the win.
Jemmings had a big game, leading the way with 22 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Bock added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Rose had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Lexi Toll added four points and four rebounds, Billmeier and Carnell each had four points and three boards and Meyer had one point.
Rose and Jemmings were both named to the all-tournament team. The Cougars get back into Tomahawk Conference action Friday when they travel to New Ulm to face MVL.
