Irlbeck scores 26 points and grabs 15 boards in win over Blue Earth Area
Down two starters, the Redwood Valley boys basketball team used a strong second half to roll past Blue Earth Area 77-58 Saturday afternoon in St. Peter.
Without the services of Cole Woodford (injury) and Logan Josephson (playing in the Minnesota Football Showcase) the Cardinals (1-1) showed nice balance and outscored the Bucs 48-32 in the second half to pick up their first win.
Mitch Irlbeck had a solid outing, recording a double-double of 26 points and 15 rebounds to go along with four assists and a blocked shot.
Payton Nelson went 4-of-8 from long range on the way to a career-high 16 points and seven boards.
Deo Charles knocked down a trio of three’s to finish with 11 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Kyle Huhnerkoch added seven points, four rebounds and three assists, Bronson Smith had six points and three boards, Xander Seaman added four points, four rebounds and two blocked shots, Colin Wells had three points, Michael Mace added two points and three boards and Winterhawk Old Rock had two points and one rebound.
