Wilbert “Willie” Anthony Linsmeier, 87, of Wabasso died peacefully Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Wabasso Rehab and Healthcare Center in Wabasso. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Father Tony Hesse will celebrate the Mass, and burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Nov.9 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. To leave an online condolence for his family, or to sign the guestbook, go to: mvfh.org Wilbert “Willie” Anthony Linsmeier was born December 26, 1929 in New Ulm to Anton Jr. and Eleanor (Biebl) Linsmeier. He served in the U.S. Army, enlisting in 1951. On February 21, 1952, he was united in marriage to Rita Stadick at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon. The couple was blessed with four children whom together they raised on their farm near Wabasso where Wilbert diligently worked the land from 1966 until retiring from farming in 1975. Willie was never short of work in his life. Besides all of his years farming, he also drove truck hauling milk and gravel, worked at the Wabasso Implement and most recently drove bus for 18 years. Besides his work, Willie had a variety of hobbies that kept him quite busy. He dearly enjoyed working on antique tractors, tinkering around the farm and was also a quite talented metal worker. Willie sincerely enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with friends and neighbors. He was a member of the Wabasso Legion and St. Anne’s Catholic Church of Wabasso. Wilbert is survived by his wife Rita Linsmeier of Wabasso; daughters, Sandra Witzke of Lucan, Connie (Duane) Duscher of Lucan; sons, Gerald (Cindy) Linsmeier of Kandiyohi, Richard (Renee) Linsmeier of Worthington; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Schmidt of Conroe, Texas; brother, Howard (Kay) Linsmeier of New Brighton and sister-in-law, Connie Stadick of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joleen Linsmeier; brothers-in-law, Morris Schmidt and Jim Stadick and twin grandsons, Anthony and Robert Scheiber. Blessed be his memory.
