The second ranked Wabasso Rabbits football team completed a perfect regular season by trouncing hapless Adrian 55-12 Oct. 18 in a Southwest (East) District match-up. With the win the Rabbits (8-0) earned the district title and are the number one seed heading into Section 3A postseason play Oct. 24. The Rabbits face MVL (0-8) in their Section 3A opener tonight, and with a win the Rabbits will be back in action against the winner of the Sleepy Eye (3-5) vs. Springfield (2-6) match-up Oct. 28 at 3 p.m.

The Section title game is slated for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at SMSU in Marshall.

The Rabbits enter the playoffs averaging more than 43 points per game while allowing less than seven.

In the win over Adrian (1-7), the Rabbits pulled away in the second half with a 21-point third quarter to coast to an easy win.

Cooper Taylor had another huge night, scoring on touchdown runs of 15, 9, 7 and 39 yards. He carried the rock 21 times for 278 yards (13.2 yards per carry) and has almost 500 yards rushing in the last two games alone.

Nick Altermatt had a 7-yard touchdown run and also hooked up with Colton Taylor on a 20-yard touchdown strike. He was 4-of-7 passing for 75 yards and a score and had three rushes for 15 yards.

Colton Taylor had three catches for 55 yards and a score and a 17-yard rushing score. Lance Wagner had two rushes for 39 yards, Luke Wagner had four rushes for 19 yards and Hunter Taylor added five carries for 16 yards and a 3-yard touchdown run. The Rabbits finished with 384 yards on the ground and 459 yards of total offense.

Defensively, Kyle Jacobson had 11 tackles (three solo) and two tackles-for-loss, and Isaac Schmiesing added 13 tackles (one solo) and three tackles-for-loss. Myles Zeug added seven tackles and two tackles-for-loss, and Ty Kemp and Jacob Plaetz each had seven tackles. Will Carlson added an interception.
