1 – The Redwood Area School District is hosting back to school open house events Aug. 17, with Reede Gray from 4:30-6 p.m., RVMS from 5:30-7 p.m. and RVHS from 6-8 p.m. The United Methodist Church is hosting a free meal at the church from 4:30-6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

2 – Milroy is celebrating Fun Fest this Saturday, Aug. 19 with events throughout the day stating with a 5K color run at 8:30 a.m., a community parade at 10:30 a.m. and a street dance featuring IV Play at 9 a.m. All are invited to attend.

3 – The City of Echo is celebrating its 125th anniversary Friday through Sunday, Aug. 18-20, with activities scheduled all weekend. An all-school reunion is being held Friday, Aug. 18 from 4-8 p.m., the community parade is at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 and a community worship service is being held Sunday, Aug. 20 at 9:30 a.m. The public is encouraged to visit Echo this weekend to help celebrate this anniversary.

4 – The annual Walk Against Violence is being held Friday, Aug. 18 starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Redwood County Courthouse in Redwood Falls. From there, participants will walk to the community center at the Lower Sioux Community. All are invited to attend.

5 - The Redwood County and Renville County historical societies are hosting a concert Aug. 18 at the Gilfillan Estate from 7-9 p.m. The Church of Cash, a Johnny Cash tribute band, is performing. Admission is $10.
