When the Redwood County Board of Commissioners met for the final time in 2016, one of its action items was to set the salaries for the county’s elected officials.
The resolution the board adopted included the following salaries:
• County commissioners – $26,915
• County recorder – $78,707.20
• County auditor-treasurer – $91,811.20
• County attorney – $97,988.80
• County sheriff – $103,542.40
Earlier in the month, the county board also set the non-union salary schedule, which was structured based on the results of a compensation study that was conducted in 2015. The schedule was condensed from 16 steps down to 14, and the increases reflect the decision to better compete in the regional market.
The board is still in negotiations with two of its union groups, including AFSCME and LELS.
