The Redwood Area Board of Education took the following action during its Dec. 19 meeting:
• The board denied a request to enter into a cooperative agreement with the Cedar Mountain  School District for baseball and softball. The board determined in both of those programs there were enough local students involved, and to include students from another district would only keep students in the local district from having time to play.
• Approved the Redwood Valley Alternative Learning Program teaching staff for the spring semester including: Jan DePuy – English 12 (90 hours), Katlin LeClaire – Algebra II (90 hours), Naomi Prodoehl – English Recovery (90 hours) and the Early Childhood Family Education staff – early childhood education for teenage parents (15 hours).
• Approved the employment of Jackie Probst as a .1040 FTE Dakota students teacher at a salary of $4,056.
• Approved the employment of Alexis Martin as an RVMS paraprofessional for $11.50 per hour.
• Approved the employment of Jessica Bratsch as an elementary school special education long-term substitute teacher for 137 days at $217.39 per  day.
• Approved the financial audit of the school district by the firm of Uhlenkamp and Associates.
• Recognized John Salmon, outgoing board member, for the years that he served on the local school board.
