Wabasso earns tenth straight victory, finishes 7-1 in conference play
The Wabasso Rabbits captured a share of the Tomahawk Conference girls volleyball title Thursday night with a 3-1 win over host GFW.
Wabasso (21-6) finishes out the season 7-1 in conference play, it’s only loss to CM/Comfrey (3-0) earlier in the fall.
The Cougars, meanwhile, recently lost to Springfield (3-0) and Springfield fell to Wabasso (3-1) as all three finished 7-1.
The Rabbits have now won ten straight and continue their push toward a top three seed in the upcoming Section 3A-North playoffs.
Minneota (18-5) and MACCRAY (22-4) are just ahead of the Rabbits in QRF rankings.
TMB (23-6), Hills-BC (20-2) and Windom Area (18-9) should hold down the top three seeds in the south half of the bracket.
Thursday night the Rabbits topped the T-Birds 25-15, 25-19, 25-27, 25-19.
Maddy Guetter led the way with 28 kills and 21 digs.
Alison Benz added 12 kills and 18 digs, and Gina Goblirsch had nine kills and 17 digs. Lainy Rohlik finished with a team-high 47 set assists, Megan Rothmeier was 19-of-19 serving with four aces and Jenna Frank was 21-of-21 serving with five set assists.
The Rabbits also recently downed Sleepy Eye 3-0, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-21.
Guetter finished with 14 kills and nine digs, and Goblirsch added eight kills, 10 digs and an ace block.
Emily Hoffman chipped in with five kills, was 14-of-14 serving with three aces and also had three ace blocks.
Rohlik led the way with 33 set assists, and Rothmeier was 12-of-12 serving with two aces and had 10 digs.
Monday night the Rabbits rallied for a 3-2 win over RTR, winning 25-18, 21-25, 14-25, 25-16, 16-14.
Guetter had a huge night with 34 kills, 25 digs and two ace serves.
Benz added nine kills and 13 digs and Goblirsch had six kills and 20 digs.
Rohlik added 48 set assists and three blocks.
