After utilizing space in the basement of the old Armory Square Mall for some time, a new opportunity to become more visible to the public was presented to the Western Com-munity Action (WCA) and Women’s Rural Advocacy Program (WRAP). That opportunity was taken, and the two programs, which include the Big Bud-dies program, have moved into a new location at the corner of Second and Washing-ton streets in Redwood Falls (the north half of the GuidePoint Pharmacy building).
While WCA and WRAP officially moved into their new space earlier in March, the three individuals who work out of the office, Leslie Myrom of Big Buddies, Amy Joubert of WCA and Tammy Pitzl of WRAP are allowing the public a chance to see the new location March 23 from 4-7 p.m. The public is invited to this open house event.
According to Jou-bert, the new location provides more access to the public, and with three separate office spaces those coming in for meetings and appointments are going to feel a greater sense of confidentiality.
For Myrom, the new space offers just that – space and lots of it.
With dozens of kids in the Big Buddies program, having a place where they can all congregate with room to spare is going to enhance what she can offer to the kids and the adult volunteers.
“It’s going to be a nice place for the kids to just come and hang out if they want,” said Myrom, adding a recent grant is also going to allow her program to purchase Wii Fit systems for the kids in the program.
For Pitzl the new move offers more space but it still is close enough to other agencies her program works with in the community.
While the location has changed the services being provided by the agencies does not.
Services the community has come to expect from WCA and WRAP are going to continue as they have in the past. For more information call WCA at (507) 637-2187 or WRAP at (507) 637-3056.
