One year ago, the Redwood Valley Singers - Kathleen Perry, Brooke May, Nikki Tatge and Katie Ellingworth - made its state debut performing the National Anthem at the state wrestling tournament in St. Paul. They did a good enough job that they were asked back this year.

“This group is full of perfectionists,” said Lynnette Clark, RVHS choir director. “They do not expect anything less than that.”

With its current manager calling it quits at the end of April, members of the community began wondering what would happen to the Vesta Cafe next.

Those questions were answered this past Monday night when members of the Vesta Commercial Club, the current owners of the cafe building, hosted a public meeting to talk about the next steps.

In 2004, as a sophomore in high school, Joey Latsha felt he was being called by God to work with youth.

That belief is being put to the test over the next few months, as Latsha serves as an intern at Redwood Alliance Church.

As part of the 2009 unallotment decision made by Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a program serving what those in medical circles consider the poorest and most vulnerable of the state’s residents was going to come to an end.

With the threat of the programs demise looming, the state legislature got to work this session to find a way to extend the program and to continue it in the long term.

George Ramseth, principal of Redwood Falls High School from 1946-73, died Thursday, March 4, at the Redwood Area Hospital. He was 100 years, five months old.

“George was a big part of my and a lot of other peoples’ lives,” said Mayor Gary Revier on Friday. “George was a big link with this town’s past. He is going to be missed by not just the school community, but by the entire community. I guess at 100 years old, you kind of expect it, but you felt that if anyone would beat death, it would be George.”
