Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Rock Valle Lutheran Church, rural Echo. Burial was at Wang Lutheran Church, rural Maynard. Arrangements were with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls, www.wingbain.com. Born February 28, 1924 to Alma and John O. Anderson of rural Echo, Lola was baptized and later confirmed at Rock Valle Lutheran Church of rural Echo. She attended Yellow Medicine Sioux Agency #93 country school and graduated from Echo High School in 1941. After attending Mankato Commercial College, she worked in Redwood Falls as a legal secretary at a law firm until she was united in marriage to Kenneth Holien of rural Maynard. They were married at Rock Valle Lutheran Church on February 7, 1948 and then farmed and raised their family just south of Maynard in Renville County. Three children were born to this marriage: Diane, Dorothy, and John. Lola was an active member of the Wang Lutheran Church rural Maynard, the choir, ladies aid, and taught Sunday school for several years. She enjoyed being a homemaker by baking, cooking, caring for her family, flower arranging, doing crossword puzzles, playing the piano, sewing, dancing with Kenneth, and caring for many pets on the farm. Retirement years were in Granite Falls until moving to Parkview Home in Belview to be near her sister. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy (Matt) Donahue of Shorewood; son John (Roberta) Holien of Maynard; five grandchildren: Kristin Borne, Renita (Tim) Weierke, Mitchell (Stacey) Tomes, Steven Holien, Tim (Taylor Patton) Holien; three great-granddaughters: April Schefers, and twins Virginia and Lucille Holien; as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.
