  • Theresa “Tracy” Wacek Siegfried, 95, of Redwood Falls died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 from St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Olivia. Visitation will be held Monday, from 9 until 10:30 a.m., at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Arrangements are with Nelson-Martin Funeral Service of Redwood Falls. E-mail condolences may be sent via www.nelsonmartinfuneralservice.com. Theresa Marie Wacek Siegfried, the daughter of August and Augusta (Steinhaus) Mude, was born April 7, 1919 in Wentworth, N.D. As a result of the severe drought and subsequent “dust bowl” years, the family relocated to a farm near Morgan in the 1920s. Tracy grew up on the farm and received her formal education in the nearby country school. She had beautiful handwriting and won several penmanship awards in elementary school. On June 28, 1938, Tracy married Henry “Hank” Wacek in Morton. They lived near Olivia for a time, then rented a farm near Bechyn before purchasing their own farm in the Bechyn area. Tracy was a homemaker then, following Hank’s 
    death in 1969, she worked at McKay’s Cafe in Redwood Falls. On July 21, 1973, Tracy married Oscar Siegfried and they made their home in Morton. She was actively involved with the Morton Senior Citizens and was the nutrition manager there until a few years ago. Tracy was publicly recognized for her work at the senior center. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn and, after her marriage to Oscar, St. John’s Catholic Church in Morton and their ladies’ aid. Tracy relocated to Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls a few years ago. She is survived by her son Richard “Dick” (Gwen) Wacek of Redwood Falls; grandchildren Tim Pfluger, Theresa Kelly, Tammy Trotter, Galen Smith, Wayne Wacek, Wade (Michelle) Wacek, Dean (Sandy) Wacek and Jayne (Pat) Butler; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her step-children Geraldine Dahl of Bird Island, Donna Sparks of Faribault, Floyd (Geri) Siegfried of Michigan, Barbara (Herb) Nelson of Franklin, Sandy (John) Rice of Faribault, and Stanley (Peggy) Siegfried of Sioux Falls, S.D.; her sister Sadie Harder of St. Cloud; and many nieces and nephews. Tracy was preceded in death by her first husband, Hank; her second husband Oscar; daughter Janet Smith; son Kenny Wacek; grandson Todd Pfluger; sisters Bertha Harder and Evelyn Knisley; and brothers Carl, Willy, Ted and Albert Mude. Blessed be her memory.
