  • Dave Messer has been in business selling and repairing appliances for nearly 45 years. Now “partially-semi-retired” Dave and his partner (and son) Mike have enlarged the business in new quarters in downtown Redwood. “He’s the full-time man,” said Dave. “We’ve been looking for awhile for someplace bigger, and started moving in June ninth.” That was right before the Redwood area was hit with five inches of rain in one night. Since then, the two have been putting in most of their hours helping customers deal with fallout from flooded basements. When they’ve had spare moments during the past few weeks, they’ve been moving their inventory down a block on E. Second Street, to the old auto dealership that more recently was home to a winery and a medical supply store. The firm carries the same three brands of appliance it did before. Equipment for sale includes refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers, and more. However, the new storefront allows them to display many more items than the old location did. Behind the showroom is another reason for the move: space for an expanded shop area and more storage. “We’ve got lots more storage here, so we won’t have to load and unload in the streets any more,” said Dave. Dave added they may be adding another employee soon, and currently have new signage in the works.
