  • A cancer diagnosis is life-altering but not always life-ending. Thanks to advances in prevention, early detection, treatment and follow-up care, more people than ever are surviving cancer. In America alone, there are nearly 14 million survivors – now that is something to celebrate. The Redwood Area Hospital invites all community cancer survivors to join in celebrating life at the 21st annual cancer survivors picnic. The event is being held this coming Tues-day from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Redwood Area Hospital Educa-tion Room. The picnic is going to include Subway sandwiches, beverages and utensils furnished by the hospital. Guests are invited to bring a dish to share. The picnic is a chance for cancer survivors to connect with other survivors, celebrate milestones and acknowledge the family members, friends and healthcare providers who have supported them along the way. “Each year this celebration gives cancer survivors and their families a chance to stand together and show that life after a cancer diagnosis can be exciting, fulfilling and inspiring,” said Cindy Moldan, registered nurse with the Redwood Area Hospital Cancer Care Center. For more information, call Moldan at the Redwood Area Hos-pital at (507) 637-4512 or visit www.redwood-areahospital.org.
