This Saturday a new playground is going to be on display when the City of Milroy holds its annual Fun Fest celebration.
Visitors to the city of Milroy, especially those who are under the age of 10, likely have noticed a few changes to the city’s park. In recent days a community project has provided some new equipment in the playground area after it was determined some of the older pieces offered to kids were not up to snuff. That new equipment is made possible through the efforts of community members who have put on events over the past several months to help raise funds, and this Saturday the new playground is going to be on display when the City of Milroy holds its annual Fun Fest celebration. The day of events begins at 8:30 a.m. when a 5k fun run/walk/dog walk is held. Registration is set to begin at 8:15 a.m. The morning’s activities continue with a parade at 10:30 a.m., with line-up at 10 a.m. by the elevator.
Other events taking place Saturday in Milroy include: • A volleyball tournament, which is set to start at 12 p.m. • A free throw contest at 1 p.m. • A petting zoo hosted by area 4-H members from 1-3 p.m. • A bean bag tournament scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. • Lion’s Club Bingo from 3-5 p.m. • A rubber Duck race at 2:30 p.m. (Be sure to bring your rubber ducky.) • A firemen’s water fight at 5 p.m. • A chow chip contest at 7 p.m. • A street dance featuring Roxbury starting at 9 a.m. • An inflatable bounce house is available during the day. The public is invited and encouraged to visit Milroy this Saturday to celebrate Fun Fest.
