  • A town only has a 150th birthday once, and the weekend of June 20-22 is going to be a huge one for Redwood Falls. Between 9 a.m. on Friday, June 20 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 55 different anniversary-related events are scheduled. Some, like the annual community parade and Rotary Club Fly-in Breakfast are traditional. Odds are you’ve been to them before. But there will be much, much more. Highlights for Friday, June 20 include: • Sesquitauqua Event at the Redwood Falls Public Library. A series of speakers will share stories about the town over the past 150 years. •Tatanka Arts Art & Quilt Show • Redwood Falls History Museum, a private showing of frontier artifacts from the town’s earliest days. • The North American Railcar Operators Association will visit North Redwood, at the original birthplace of Sears, Roebuck & Company. • Family Night at Memorial Field after the community parade. Events include inflatables, and outdoor movie, and a pool party sponsored by the city. • Beer garden, Hicktown Mafia concert, and fireworks at the county fairgrounds. Highlights for Saturday, June 21 include: • The Sesquicentennial 5k run/walk, sponsored by the Redwood Falls Lions Club. • Downtown scavenger hunt. • Lawn games, softball and volleyball tournaments at various locations around town. • Boat races, milk carton derby, and hovercraft rides on Lake Redwood. • Swayback bridge rededication and Vita Course nature trail dedication. • Many, many activities on the Redwood County fairgrounds, including games, food and drink, beach party, and concerts by Bob and the Beachcombers, and 32 Below. • The Redwood Falls High School All-School Reunion, going on from 12 noon until almost midnight at the fairgrounds. Highlights for Sunday, June 22 include: • Redwood Falls Car Club, at the airport as the Rotary Club’s Fly-in Breakfast is going on. • Scramble golf tournament at the golf course. • Redwood River Valley Road Rally • Redwood River Valley Duck Dash • Tours of the high school and Reede Gray Elementary School • Carnival at the Redwood Area Community Center. • Open house for the Redwood Falls Public Library’s 110th anniversary.
