  • What’s a Sesquitauqua? It’s a day-long event at the Redwood Falls Public Library featuring speakers on the history of Redwood Falls. In the spirit of an old fashioned Chautauqua, those coordinating the event have put together a lineup of speakers who are going to share stories about the history of our beloved Scenic City. Come and go as you like, or stay all day. The speakers for this special event June 20 include Joshua Dixon on “The History Of Gary Revier” at 9 a.m.; Tom Ellig is going to speak about city founder Samuel McPhail at 10 a.m.; Clara Friese is set to tell us about “Women In Redwood Falls History” at 11 a.m.; Steve Collins is scheduled to tell us about “Redwood Falls Law Stories” at noon; Troy Krause is going to tell us about the history of Red-wood Falls newspapers and past editors at 1 p.m.; Geri and Corey Theis are going to speak about “Historic Sites of Redwood Falls” at 2 p.m. and finally Frankie Jackson is going to speak about “Charles Eastman” at 3 p.m. The programs are going to be recorded and available for checkout following the event. Come and celebrate Redwood Falls. Also, come to the library June 22 for an open house, as the library celebrates its 110th anniversary. Refreshments are going to be served. Special arrangements have also been made for an open house at the former Carnegie library building (334 South Jefferson) from 2-3 p.m. Join us to celebrate the local public library.
