It’s time for the spring fundraiser at the Duke Memorial Redwood Area Animal Shelter, and it’s going to be a fun, informative one. The First Annual Dukes’s Paws for the Cause is set for the animal shelter in Redwood Falls on May 31, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Money raised at the event will be used to provide food and medical for the the animals, as well as to keep the shelter’s spaying and neutering program going. Features of the fundraiser include: • Low-cost microchipping of pets. • A dog walk • All-American Franks available for lunch • Fun contests for dogs along the walk route outside • A bake sale • A silent auction • A demonstration of the police department’s K-9 dog • A raffle. Generous donors from a wide swath of southwestern Minnesota are providing items for the raffle and silent auction. Among them are many homemade rugs, quilts, and dog beds, baskets for pets and their owners, and many, many baked treats. If you would like to donate to the bake sale or auction, there is still time; call 507-644-3853 for more information.
