  • One by one, members of the RVHS Class of 2014 walked across the stage this past Wednesday to be recognized for their hard work with awards, handshakes and, most importantly, scholarship funds. For each of the seniors, those scholarship awards represent a bit of relief for the ever-increasing cost of pursuit of post-secondary education. “I want you to know we appreciate the businesses and community members who support our kids with these scholarships,” said Barb Sellevold, RVHS guidance counselor, adding each of those gifts is an investment in the future. Among the recipients recognized during the event held to celebrate education in the Redwood Area School District were Tamarah Frank and Scott Dingels. Between the two of them 12 scholarships were awarded. “College is expensive,” admitted Dingels, adding every amount helps.
Both Dingels and Frank said they put many hours into filling out applications. “(The work) is definitely worth it,” said Frank, adding the scholarship money is really going to help during that first year. Frank is planning to attend St. Cloud State University to study either psychology or mass communications. Dingels said he had received word about some of the scholarships he received, but there were some surprises that night, too. Dingels is planning to attend the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota to pursue a degree in ag business.
