  • Enid Guggisberg, 94, died Friday, April 18, 2014 at Sunwood Nursing Home in Redwood Falls. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow at Crestlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Enid Guggisberg was born April 30, 1919 in New Avon Township, Redwood County the daughter of Samuel and Ellen (Kline) Wittwer. Enid was baptized April 5, 1931 and confirmed her faith November 2, 1938 at Trinity Lutheran parsonage. Enid attended country school and graduated from Wabasso High School in 1938. On September 21, 1938, she was united in marriage to Harold Guggisberg. They lived with Harold’s parents until February 1939 at which time they farmed in New Avon Township until 1945. They then moved to a farm near Clements for one year and then moved to Sherman Township and farmed until they retired and moved to Redwood Falls in 1976. Enid worked for Pamida for three years after moving to town. She enjoyed being a housewife, mother, grandmother and enjoyed meeting people. Enid was active in golfing, bowling and loved to play cards. She was active in Ladies Aid and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morton until 1991. She then transferred membership to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. She loved attending Bible class to keep her faith strong. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed having coffee with her many friends. Enid is survived by her children Linda Paulsen of Olivia, Lyle (Marsha) Guggisberg of St. Croix Falls, Wis., Joyce (Robert) Krcil of Hutchinson, Judy (Marvin) Lentz of Danube, Joan (Michael) Plaetz of Red Wing, Gary (Kris) Guggisberg of Morton and daughter-in-law Julie Guggisberg of Morton. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Hertha Zimmerman of Redwood Falls, Ray (Darlene) Guggisberg of Battle Lake, Vernon (Pat) Guggisberg of Redwood Falls and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her son, Lee; son-in-law, Earl Paulsen; one great-granddaughter, Christine Maddock; brothers Clayton, Lewis, Leonard, and Samuel Wittwer; and sisters Gertrude Wittwer, Blanche Kruse, Marcella Elliot, and Merryellen Kammer. Blessed be her memory.
